Remote control
Remote control lets you manage projection from your phone without going near the computer. It’s useful for the operator running things from the platform, for the preacher who wants to advance their own slides, or for anyone who’d rather not have a mouse in hand during the service.
How it works in one line
Section titled “How it works in one line”The desktop app generates a 4-digit PIN that appears in its top bar. The mobile app connects to the server, you enter the PIN, and from then on the commands from your phone reach the desktop in real time.
Pair mobile with desktop
Section titled “Pair mobile with desktop”Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The desktop app must be open and signed in to the same organization as the mobile app.
- Both devices need internet.
Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”- On the desktop, look at the top bar — next to your username there’s a
field with a 4-digit PIN (e.g.
4271). - On mobile, open the app and go to Remote control (in the bottom bar or from the dashboard).
- Enter the PIN and tap Connect.
- If the code is correct, the mobile app switches to the control view and the connected controller’s name appears on the desktop.
What you can control
Section titled “What you can control”Once paired, from mobile you can:
Slides
Section titled “Slides”- Previous / Next slide.
- Jump to a specific slide from the grid.
- Black screen (toggle).
- Clear the screen (returns to the initial state).
- Show the logo of the organization in full screen.
Load content into projection
Section titled “Load content into projection”From mobile you can send to the desktop:
- Songs — search the repertoire and tap → it projects.
- Bible passages — pick version, book, chapter, verse.
- Presentations — open a loaded presentation and it projects as a series of slides.
- Media — individual images and videos.
- YouTube — any video in the library.
- Text slides — the organization’s custom text slides.
Audio and video
Section titled “Audio and video”- Background audio: play, pause, stop, restart, toggle loop. The mobile app sees the name of the current audio and the playback position.
- Video: play, pause, restart. You see the video’s progress in real time.
Backgrounds
Section titled “Backgrounds”- Change the animated background (video backgrounds) or static background (still backgrounds) of projection.
- Change solid color of the background.
- Clear background and return to the default.
Connection status
Section titled “Connection status”The remote control view shows two chips:
- 🟢 Connected — mobile has an active WebSocket to the server.
- 🟢 Desktop active — the desktop is connected and responding. If it says “Desktop not connected”, the commands you send queue up and apply when the desktop comes back, or are lost if the desktop is closed.
If the desktop restarts
Section titled “If the desktop restarts”When the desktop restarts (or when someone regenerates the PIN from the menu), the mobile app automatically receives a session revoked message and returns to the PIN entry screen. You’ll need to check the new PIN on the desktop and reconnect.
Multiple controllers
Section titled “Multiple controllers”Several phones can connect to the same desktop at the same time (e.g. the operator and the preacher). Each one needs the same PIN and all of them can send commands. Commands reach the desktop in order — if two people tap “Next” at the same time, that advances two slides.
To avoid confusion, coordinate who handles what (e.g. operator handles songs, preacher handles their own presentations).
Disconnect
Section titled “Disconnect”Use the red button at the top right of the remote control screen. You’re also automatically disconnected if:
- You completely close the mobile app.
- You go offline for more than a few minutes.
Reconnecting requires entering the current PIN again.
Privacy and security
Section titled “Privacy and security”- The PIN is 4 digits and is only valid while the desktop app is open. If the desktop closes, the PIN is invalidated.
- Anyone with the mobile app, signed in to the same organization, and knowledge of the PIN can control projection. Don’t share the PIN with people outside your team.
- If you suspect someone outside has access, click Regenerate PIN on the desktop — every paired phone gets disconnected and has to re-enter the new PIN.
Common issues
Section titled “Common issues””Incorrect code”
Section titled “”Incorrect code””The PIN may have changed. Check the current one in the top bar of the desktop and try again.
Mobile says “Connected” but “Desktop not connected”
Section titled “Mobile says “Connected” but “Desktop not connected””Your phone reached the server, but the desktop didn’t. Check:
- That the desktop is open.
- That the desktop has internet (the desktop’s top bar shows the connection status).
Commands don’t arrive
Section titled “Commands don’t arrive”If “Desktop active” is green but nothing happens when you tap Next:
- Close and reopen the remote control screen on mobile.
- Regenerate the PIN from the desktop and pair again.
- If it persists, report the problem from FAQ and support.
Unstable connection during the service
Section titled “Unstable connection during the service”If the church Wi-Fi is weak, use your phone’s mobile data instead. The app automatically retries the connection every few seconds when it loses it.
Next step
Section titled “Next step”If remote control is ready, you can explore the rest of the mobile app in Mobile administration, or review the notifications screen in Notifications.
